Why subscribe?

Subscribers are invited to submit 1 short story of up to 1,000 words quarterly. One winner will receive one-half of the total quarterly income from paid subscriptions.

Why the change now?

Changing to a platform where contributors have the opportunity to earn from their writing is another way the Garden supports writers. Substack is the perfect place to do this.

Payout = 50% of quarterly subscription revenue to be sent by Paypal or Zelle

If this substack gets thousands of subscribers, the winner will get thousands of dollars!

How, When and Where to Submit a Story

Submit stories by the end of the quarter (March, June, September, and December), the winner is to be announced on the 20th of the following month. ONE story will win and receive the full payout.

What are the rules for submitting?

1. No Fees

2. Send in Microsoft Word or Google Doc form

3. Stick to the theme or prompt provided.

4. Maximum 1,000 words

5. Reprints are acceptable so long as you have the right to distribute.

6. Acknowledge Distribution Rights on this Substack - You can still sell your story elsewhere but we need to be able to save and publish it here. Stories will be stored and available to subscribers in the archives.

Is there more?

Yes! Analytics will be published quarterly in terms of subscribers and the number of submissions.

There is also the option to sign up for FREE emails. You won’t get the story, but you will get book news and story prompts.
